For Katie Lane, a cookbook wasn’t just a creative side project—it was a way to bring customers closer to the heart of her family-run ranch.
At Lane Legacy Beef, Katie and her family are continuing a four-generation ranching tradition in the wide-open spaces of Montana, offering premium grass-fed Black Angus beef directly to customers across the U.S.
What started as friends asking to buy beef straight from the ranch has grown into a thriving direct-to-consumer brand—with a mission rooted in quality, connection, and authenticity.
Katie knew she wanted to give her customers more than just delicious beef—she wanted to offer them inspiration.
So she created a custom cookbook filled with the recipes she’s relied on for over two decades to feed her family and ranch crew. These were meals with meaning—hearty, approachable, and deeply connected to her product.
“I wanted to give our customers inspiration on how to cook the many cuts we offer—especially ground beef, which is often underutilized,” Katie shared.
The cookbook features nearly 50 real-life recipes. About half highlight ground beef, while others feature chuck roast, stew meat, steak, and brisket—including a beloved oven-baked brisket recipe that’s become a ranch favorite.
With personal touches like family photos and shots of the cattle and ranch, the cookbook feels like a visit to Lane Legacy itself. It’s not just a guide—it’s a glimpse into the people and values behind the brand.
The finished book now serves as a powerful brand tool. It’s helped Lane Legacy Beef build deeper relationships with customers, offer added value, and elevate their story in a way that’s tangible and lasting.
“I wanted our cookbook to feel authentic,” Katie said. “And CreateMyCookbook made it easy to put everything together in a way that reflects who we are.”
Today, Lane Legacy Beef is sold online, at farmers markets across Montana, in more than 100 retail locations, and in wholesale grocery stores. But what sets them apart isn’t just the quality of their beef—it’s the heart behind it.
And their cookbook is now a lasting piece of that story.
